For nearly 40 years, we have had the great honor of serving our community and sharing the food that is so close to our hearts. With a happy heart and immense amount of gratitude, we have decided to close Pasta Plus Restaurant & Market.

No amount of words can truly express our appreciation and thankfulness for our customers and your continued support. Whether you've only shared a meal with us once or if you were a regular who attended wine dinners and our trips to Italy - being able to serve you and get to know you has been an opportunity of a lifetime and is something so special to us. The memories you have given us during our decades in Laurel will be cherished forever.

From the bottom of our hearts - thank you to our customers, thank you to the City of Laurel, and thank you to the Pasta Plus team. You all have made our dream possible.

Max + Sabatino Mazziotti | Pasta Plus

When brothers Massimo (Max) and Sabatino Mazziotti opened Pasta Plus in 1983, the restaurant was an instant success. For 39 years, it remained a staple of Laurel that brought return customers from all over the region and beyond. Max and Sabatino have shared photos and ephemera from both Pasta Plus and their Bowie restaurant, Mare E Monti. Included here are their earliest and final menus, as well as newspaper articles and awards the restaurants won over the years.

I am heart broken but I do not look hungry thanks in large measure to the now shuttered Pasta Plus.

It was the place, Laurel’s claim to regional epicurean delight. People spoke openly of its high standing in the way of restaurants around Washington. A place where everyone was made to feel comfortable by Max and Sabatino, the proprietors. A place when you would run into the parish priest, Father Anthony, or the late Judge Jacob S. Levin, a man who loved the law and really good Italian. A place where you could take your daughter, the definition of a finicky eater and she left full and satisfied. The ambiance and the food said it all. Where even basic spaghetti and meat sauce took on a taste of heaven. You were not just their customer, you were their friend and every now again a free desert came your way.
When they reopened after Covid and only did carry-out, the line grew and the “Laurel PBS crowd” was there with 70ish men with pony tails walking in circles talking to themselves saying, “Where is my dinner?
Where is my Pasta Plus!”
It was a place where you could fall in love with not just pasta. Farewell Max, farewell Sabatino... we love you, your food, your kindness...we shall all miss you...especially at dinner time.

For almost 40 years, the Pasta Plus family-owned restaurant in Laurel has served authentic Italian meals made with fresh pasta and bread. Prince George’s County Bureau Chief Tracee Wilkins reports it’s shutting down after COVID-19 impacted staffing and operations. The restaurant has been posting about closing on its Facebook page .


Pasta Plus Restaurant Gourmet Market is an award-winning, family owned restaurant run by Massimo (Max)Mazziotti and his brother Sabatino Mazziotti.

Since opening in 1983, our restaurant has offered the finest Central and North Italian food specialties.

We emphasize fresh pasta and bread made daily in our restaurant. Along with fresh seafood, fresh meats and pizza baked in an authentic wood-fired oven. We also feature an extensive menu of gourmet carryout items.

In addition, we offer a series of regular wine dinners and tastings throughout the year. And we take an annual trip to Italy with our customers each fall to explore the finest in regional foods and wines.


Pasta Plus Restaurant & Gourmet Market was featured on "The Food Network's "Best of—Viewers' Choice" in 2002.

WTOP Best Of 2010 [img]For the second consecutive year, WTOP Radio listeners voted Pasta Plus as the Best D.C. area Italian Restaurant. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for us again this year!

Abruzzo Earthquake Relief

Pasta Plus would like to thank everyone who helped us raise money for earthquake relief efforts in the Abruzzo region of Italy, where owners Massimo & Sabatino Mazziotti were born and raised. The past month has shown how truly generous Pasta Plus customers are. We raised over $13,000 on the night of our special Earthquake Relief Wine Dinner, due to everyone's exceedingly generous contributions. And the donations did not stop coming afterwards. We never could have imagined that we would be able to raise as much money as we did. 100% of this money is being donated to those affected by the tragic earthquake that ocurred in Abruzzo on April 6th, and we know that it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, again, very much. And in case you are curious, we were able to reach a GRAND TOTAL of... $17,560!


Johns Hopkins Cancer Research

Pasta Plus would like to thank everyone for their support of Johns Hopkins University cancer research. We would like to thank everyone who attended our fund raising Wine Dinner on Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, and also those who could not attend, but contributed. Thanks to your generosity and support we were able to raise $12,875 for Cancer Research.


Fundraiser on behalf of long-time Pasta Plus Employee

We would also like to thank all of our Pasta Plus customers on behalf of one of our co-workers and the entire Pasta Plus family for participating in our wine tasting fundraiser to support his family. As many of you may know, this long-time Pasta Plus employee succumbed to cancer last year. Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, we were able to raise over $18,500 for his family. We are deeply appreciative for all of your support.
